"stress" in translations from Pali & Sanskrit

Another Thanissaro word is "theme" for nimitta, normally translated as "sign". I think "theme" is misleading, it is not helpful for better understanding. Your opinion ?

About translations of sutras in general: Personally I like to read whole passages, I become irritated if everything is shortened, if all repetitions are left out. Why don't they also shorten all the poems and poetic works there are of european literature?? Why don't they just put there three dots, if you can find the rest of the sentence in some other poem, that can be found in some other book?? Repetition is necessary, it belongs to the literary style (of the sutras).
