I've been lurking this forum for a little while - I thought it time to make an account and introduce myself.
I'm one of the lucky few who had the opportunity to study Buddhism in depth as a major part of an A-level at sixth form. I fell in love with it - the fundamental teachings, the stories, the traditions, the debates between schools etc. Prajnaparamita and Shunyata vs. Abhidharma literature was one of my favourite discussions, but I recently stumbled onto this forum when researching (out of personal interest) warrior monks and how they justified their acts. Buddhism quickly became integrated into every part of my life - this was 3 years ago, and I am now studying Psychology at university. I find overlapping themes in Buddhism and science/psychology itself fascinating - I particularly enjoy the fact that mindfulness therapy is starting to be incorporated into NHS hospitals!
I'm used to replying to threads on other forums made by people who have many misconceptions about Buddhism or who don't know very much about the religion, so I find the idea of being part of this forum both exciting and slightly intimidating - despite knowing that you're all lovely. I've never had much opportunity to involve myself in any sort of Sangha, so I'm looking forward to spending some time here.
Thanks for taking your time to read, I hope to meet you all in some way soon.

Haha, you never hear Americans refer to England as the motherland. Spoils the kinship with 'em. :PFood_Eatah wrote: OIC! I guess in NZ we still use some of da same system as the mother land!

Naw, if only I had that sort of money. That's the sorta thing everyone here wants to go see, but the flights are crazy. And damaging to the environment etc. ;D
