Sad news that Chan/Zen Scholar John R. McRae has passed away from a battle with cancer.

Very sad news. He was a true pioneer in East Asian Buddhist studies.

I remember well a weekend seminar he taught at Zen Mountain Monastery some 17 years ago.

A memorial event will be held on Sunday, November 20, 7-8:30 pm, at the Parc 55 hotel in San Francisco.
