Al Jazeera is showing a video that purports to be evidence of extra-judicial killings in the aftermath of the Nigerian suppression of the Boko Haram group last summer (BE WARNED: THIS IS EXTREMELY GRAPHIC SHOWING PEOPLE'S ALLEGED EXECUTIONS). Al Jazeera claims that the Nigerian government has in fact admitted the fact that at least some killings of prisoners after fighting had ended took place. However this is denied in a Washington Post article according to which Nigerian officials have claimed the video is a fabrication created by Boko Haram supporters.
Al Jazeera further claimed on their TV news broadcast that it appeared that after the fighting some men were randomly taken and executed along a street outside a police station. The city name was not given. One of the men executed was a Muslim community leader who had apparently worked to stop violence between the government and Boko Haram.
Boko Haram is an Islamic Nigerian group that is alleged to have been one of the causes of religious violence in northern Nigeria over the past several years.
