Why did you think you were infected Anapurna?

It is complicated to judge if you are infected. Running netstat -b from the command prompt is very telling as is Russinovich's Process Explorer.

The days of regedit and peeking into HKLM/MS/current version/run are long gone.

Because my brother said that his virus scanner had detected something in my emails....but he also doesn't want to get a lot of emails, so-
I don't know.

Nobody else had problems.

And at times, my computer would slow down considerably, and I have no idea why.

It could be that my server simply has too many people going in at the same time, -that's what they explained.

Also, when I shut it down, it is much faster again when I turn it back on, ....isn't that weird?

I also used a clean up program now and it is a lot faster now, but today, around noon time, -again, it was so slow I had to shut it down and restart.

:?:

PS: I also sometimes have guests in the house who use their laptops, could that have an effect?

Then it is all very slow and gets on the nerves.
