Thought I would drop in to Dhammawheel's brother/sister site for a bit. Though I am still practicing Theravada I still have a fondness for Zen and an interest in the broader scope of Buddhism. Having said that I will mostly be keeping my cyber-lip zipped since I tend to default to the Theravada position on many things.

I lasted about a year and a half at my Kagyu sangha without a mala. I guess I didn't want to rush out and buy all kinds of Dharma paraphenelia and feel like a poser. Then on my last retreat, a friend of mine bought me one as a gift when she noticed I didn't have one.

Anyway, welcome, Meindzai.

I have a friend who is a Buddhist scholar who seems to think that almost all later Buddhism can be found somewhere in Theravada in embryonic form. I'm not sure if agree with him, but it's an interesting idea.
