Four types of attention (Tib.)
Four types of attention (Tib.)
Does anyone know or know where I can find the translation for the 4 types of attention (yid-la byed pa) i.e., tight focus, intermittent focus, uninterrupted focus, and spontaneous focus?
Re: Four types of attention (Tib.)
It looks like you already have the English translations of these terms. If you're looking for the Tibetan terms they are:sangyey wrote:Does anyone know or know where I can find the translation for the 4 types of attention (yid-la byed pa) i.e., tight focus, intermittent focus, uninterrupted focus, and spontaneous focus?
See: Four mental engagements.
If you're looking for an explanation of these terms and how they relate to the nine mental abidings, see Dakpo Tashi Namgyal's Mahāmudrā: The Moonlight -- Quintessence of Mind and Meditation, pp. 49-50, and Je Tsongkhapa's The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, Vol. 3, pp. 78-79.
All the best,
Geoff
