what is Zen?

Post by naite »

what is Zen?
Zen includes Chakra problem?
Then, what is different Dhammachakka in Buddhism from Kundallini's seven chakra in Hinduism?
Where is Dhammachakka's position in our body?

Zen is a form of Buddhism in East Asia consisting of different schools. It has nothing to do with chakras. "Dhammachakkha" means "Dhamma Wheel" and it is a symbol of Buddhism, has nothing to do with chakras.
1 Myriad dharmas are only mind.
Mind is unobtainable.
What is there to seek?

2 If the Buddha-Nature is seen,
there will be no seeing of a nature in any thing.

3 Neither cultivation nor seated meditation —
this is the pure Chan of Tathagata.

4 With sudden enlightenment to Tathagata Chan,
the six paramitas and myriad means
are complete within that essence.

phpBB [video]

I Think this video is very important because this video's first picture appears prior to Zen circle.
and Tibet Buddhist Chögyam Trungpa says Zen circle as Dhammakaya . You can find out Chögyam Trungpa's Dhammakaya at this site

http://www.shambhala.org/dharma/ctr/oxherding/ox8.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But I think a certain Hindu uploaded this video because no Zen circle is here. I think this Hindu omitted Zen circle on purpose because Zen circle is a Buddhist's subject, not Hindu's subject. This is the reason I think Hindu uploded this video.
But it is certain that Zen circle appears between the first picture(eclipse like) of this video and the sound "Aum".

What is it that you find in this video that is related to Zen?

The "zen circle" is the enso. The enso represents our unconditioned nature, to use the zen phrase, "your face before your parents are born." There's no connection with the chakras. Meditation on the chakras is connected with tantra, both Hindu and Buddhist, and more recently, theosophy. The dharmachakra refers to three cycles of teaching in Buddhism: the first on cause and effect, the second on emptiness, and the third on buddha nature. It has no connection to meditation on the chakras.

What do you think about this paradigm?

My opinion(View) about Zen circle is like this :
Zen circle is made up(composed) of two gunas-; sattva guna and tamas guna among tri gunas.
Of course Guna and Tri gunas are Hidu's diction. If you insist Buddhism, Zen circle will be The combination with white ox and black ox in 10 oxen herding pictures.

Tri gunas like this :

But there is two methods in combination way.
1st : tamas (in) sattva (out)
2nd : tamas (out) sattva(in)

1st img ---> http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g35 ... g&newest=1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
2nd img ----> http://s1097.photobucket.com/albums/g35 ... newest%3D1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Zen circle appears as the 2nd type between two.

Naite,

It is all right to make up your own interpretations about whatever you like, until you recognise it is a conceptualisation based on your ideas. To be aware of dependent conceptualisation and not to take them real, that awareness is what the circle expresses in Zen.

Where can you find out Dhammachakka?

Post by eightpath »

Where can you find out Dhammachakka?
I want to know where is Dhammachakka's right position in our body.
I guess the position of dhammmachakka is forehead.
But some people says the position of dhammmachakka is heart.
What do you think of Dhammachakka's right position ?
