Previously I thought Imee Oi's
music is too sweet and too romantic. My mind has changed now, I think she's a real artist,
her music is worth investigating, worth listening.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imee_Ooi
I like some of the Sufi music too, they have intensity and concentration in their music and in its expression.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sufi_music
There are similarities between Sufism and the Dharma, there are Sufi schools that regard music contrary to the spiritual path and even harmfull to spiritual development.
Neither do the Sutras or the Vinaya recommend music for anyone who is trying to acieve the dhyanas.
Nevertheless there have developed forms of ritual music and styles of chanting in the Dharma traditions. Is it not music ? -Or not music leading to the sense desire realm ( kamadhatu) ? -Is that possible ?
What do your Dharma teachers say about music? -About its place, or no place at all, in Dharma ?
