Secret Hook of Compassion Retreat
Outer, Inner and Secret Chenrezig :
Empowerment, Transmission and
Pith Practice Instructions
There is no more important practice then the generation of loving-kindness and compassion toward all sentient beings. There is so much suffering in this world and it seems to increase day by day. To alleviate this suffering there is no more important practice then the practice of Chenrezig. And within the Yangzab cycle of treasure teachings, one of the most important treasure revelations is this the Outer, Inner and Secret practice of Chenrezig. This is a practice that can be practiced on many different levels and contains a number of different sadhanas both concise and more extensive. In its essential form this is not a difficult practice to accomplish and its benefits become apparent quickly. Once one has accomplishment in this practice there are further practices that can be done to benefit those who have died and are in the Bardo or in between state between this life and their next rebirth. Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche will share the quintessential pith instructions for this practice, and will teach from his experience as well as from a special commentary composed on ths practice entitledThere is no more important practice then the generation of loving-kindness and compassion toward all sentient beings. There is so much suffering in this world and in our everyday lives. Often we can feel powerless and overwhelmed in the face of all of this suffering. To alleviate this suffering there is no more important practice then the practice of Chenrezig. And within the Yangzab cycle of treasure teachings, one of the most important treasure revelations is the Outer, Inner and Secret practice of Chenrezig. This is a practice that can be practiced on many different levels and contains a number of different practice texts both concise and more extensive. There is a simple concise practice one can do as a short daily practice. In its essential form this is not a difficult practice to accomplish and its benefits become apparent quickly. One can actually feel one's compassion and loving-kindness increase and one has greater capacity to face the sufferings of this world and to benefit others. There is also a more elaborate practice (yet still fairly concise) that can be done which includes a feast offering practice which can help one purify mistakes made in Dharma practice as well as any negative actions and through this practice one can renew ones commitments to the Dharma. This gives one the chance to start fresh and anew in the practice of benefitting sentient beings. So no matter how off course we get in our Dharma practice there is always the chance to start over, with the right motivation to benefit beings, and the feast offering practice is a powerful way to be able to reenergize the practice whenever we feel it waning due to our own negative actions or misunderstandings. Also contained in the more extensive practice, for those who are grounded in their practice, is a section where one works with the Channels, Winds and Drops, as a means of harnessing and utilizing the inner energies of the subtle energy body, so as to more quickly purify and burn up the inner obscurations to recognizing ones true nature of mind and opening up to the vast expansive Bodhicitta - Loving-Kindness and compassion that can reach and benefit beings in all realms. This is followed by another profound Dzogchen completion stage practice. Once one has gained true accomplishment in this practice there are further practices that can be done to benefit those who have died and are in the Bardo or in between state between this life and their next rebirth. So this Chenrezig practice that will be given by Lamcehn Gyalpo Rinpoche is complete on all levels in and of itself, can be practiced by those new to the practice and has practices for those more advanced. For the first time publicly, Lamchen Gyalpo Rinpoche will share the quintessential pith instructions for these practices and will teach from his experience as well as from a special commentary composed on this practice entitled "Nectar Drop of the Heart-Essence of Samantabhadra: A Brief Commentary Giving Easy Access to the Enlightened Activities of the Great Compassionate One." The practice texts that make up this cycle including the commentary text have been translated and will be made available. This is a very special opportunity. There can be no successful Dharma practice without true Bodhicitta- Loving-Kindness and Compassion, and this practice contains all that is needed to truly generate Bodhicitta - which is the life force of the Dharma, without which, one cannot benefit other sentient beings or attain true realization and liberation from the sufferings of cyclic existence.
