What would that be but conditioned perception?
I find more merit in looking at the world (loka) as defined by the Buddha (i.e. five aggregates) and whether there is a "swing in the play of dark and light" there.
Sociology is fine and all, but it's only generalisations and abstractions... rules of thumb and observation rooted in conceptual proliferation.
