White hat Karma Kagyu Lama
White hat Karma Kagyu Lama
Guys and galls there is an interesting article on himalayanart about the Lama with white Karmapa-style hat:
http://www.himalayanart.org/news/post.c ... -tradition" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So now we have almost all colours:
Black Crown
Karmapa
Red Crown
Shamar Rinpoche
Situ Rinpoche (sorry couldn´t find a pic with his real crown)
Orange Crown
Gyaltsab Rinpoche
Multicolored Crown
Karma Chagme Rinpoche
Pawo Rinpoche
I heard that there is a Lama in Zurmang tradition, who is the bearer of Green crown, but I couldn´t find the pic. Does anyone have any info on the Lama? Any other "crowned" lamas of Karma Kagyu and related branch lineages?

Re: White hat Karma Kagyu Lama
The late Kyabje Kalu Rinpoches Guru Yishin Norbu was known as the White Crown Lama. According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shangpa_Kagyu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And here is a pic of the current TsaTsa Drubgön Rinpoche whose former incarnation recieved the white crown from 8th Karmapa Mikyö Dorje http://www.travelblog.org/Photos/6166947" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: White hat Karma Kagyu Lama
The Wikipedia article I posted above states: "In the west, the principle teacher of the Shangpa Kagyu lineage was the first Kalu Rinpoche. He received the lineage teachings in the early 1940s when he went for training at Tsa Tsa Monastery in Eastern Tibet. He trained with the Abbot of the monastery, His Holiness the eighth Tsa Tsa Drubgen, Yizhin Norbu, also called Karma Singhe and the White Crown Master. The Karma Kagyu regent H.E. Tai Situ Rinpoche described Yizhin Norbu as “one of the most learned and accomplished Kagyu masters now living.”
There, Kalu Rinpoche received the complete cycle of the Shangpa teachings during a closed retreat. Tsa Tsa monastery is also a major Dakpo Kagyu Centre and preserves the rime tradition. His Holiness the Tsa Tsa Drubgen Yizhin Norbu died in the middle of June, 2005. The Shangpa traditions are currently held by his regent and successor His Holiness the second Gyalten Thongwa Rangdrol..."
Maybe of topic but according to Kyabje Kalu Rinpoches site the only masters upholding the Shangpa lineage are Yangsi Kalu Rinpoche, HE Tai Situ Rinpoche, HE Gyaltsab Rinpoche and Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche http://www.paldenshangpa.org/Official-Letter.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
So does anybody know anything about that Shangpa lineage in Tibet upheld by HH the 2nd Gyalten Thongwa Rangdrol?

He is said to be a reincarnation of Abbot Shantarakshita and an emanation of Vimalamitra.

Re: White hat Karma Kagyu Lama
After a while you'd think they'd figure out how to make hats so the wearer doesn't have to hold it on their heads with their hand!
1.The problem isn’t ‘ignorance’. The problem is the mind you have right now. (H.H. Karmapa XVII @NYC 2/4/18)
2. I support Mingyur R and HHDL in their positions against lama abuse.
3. Student: Lama, I thought I might die but then I realized that the 3 Jewels would protect me.
Lama: Even If you had died the 3 Jewels would still have protected you. (DW post by Fortyeightvows)

But I can't find one of Shamar Rinpoche or the two 17th Karmapas with Vajra Crowns. Did they ever perform a Crown Ceremony?

Concretely what does Red Crown ceremony from HH Gyalstab Rinpoche represent?
Black Hat ceremony is linked to Chenrezi Karmapa reciting mani mantras but what about the red crown of HH Gyaltsab for example? What is it linked to?
Thanks for your answer since those Hats ceremonies are not very clear for me
