HHDL to visit California in September

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will be in Long Beach, California, in September. If you would like more details please let me know. I believe there are still tickets available.

Day 1: Four Noble Truths and Amitabha Empowerment

I didn't know he gave empowerments during his lectures!!! I thought he just gave speeches!

I missed him in New York!

I'm sorry you missed him in New York! I was very sad that I missed him recently in Santa Cruz (hours north of me) and suddenly, here he is in LA! I'm a bit out of my mind with excitement. I'm taking my young, troubled teenaged niece who for some reason has a sudden interest in Buddhism. I know, it's rather out-of-the-ordinary that he's giving this minor initiations! I feel so fortunate and almost astonished that I have the opportunity. I'm posting his September schedule from the HHDL website. Of course I already sent in for tickets. I'm not going to feel assured until the tickets are in my hands though!

Even though Long Beach is in my area, my niece and I are going to make a real event of it and her dad is springing for a hotel room for us. So we'll be away for two days and not have to travel at all. Her dad is and grandmother are really encouraging this! I hope she enjoys it. Her grandmother, who is very aware of who HHDL is remembers the invasion in 1959 keeps emphasizing to my niece that this is a rare opportunity. It's interesting though, that they're so supportive of her going because they're Catholic.

Another thing that has me sort of baffled is that it's at a Dharma Center. It's not at a big giant public place. That makes me think it's going to be more up close and personal. Wowwww...

If I remember correctly atleast in New York, it was at Radio City Music Hall. I thought there's no way he'll be doing any empowerments with such a huge crowd in such a public place -- I don't know if he did.
