Correct Buddhist Calender
Correct Buddhist Calender
Amito fo,
Currently and unfortunately, the most widespread calender used throughout the world is the Gregorian Calender, also known as the Christian Calender. This Gregorian Calender which is based upon the false religion of Christianity is incorrect. The pressure by others to use any other form of Calender except for a Buddhist Calender is a denigration and assault upon Buddhism.
The correct calender is of course our own Buddhist Calender. Based upon the true and holy religion of Buddhism. All people should follow and make use of this calender, and discard the incorrect Gregorian Calender. It is very important to know the current correct date as that is used to determine when certain Buddhist services are to be held.
So that all people can know the correct date for services I will provide the Mahayana Buddhist Lunar Calender for the year along with some important dates.
May all multi-beings practice Buddhism,
Enjitsu

Re: Correct Buddhist Calender
Anyone know how I can get my Windows OS to work on the Buddhist Calendar? I don't like how it operates on the Christian calendar. My computer should be as Buddhist as possible.
Any ideas?
Any ideas?
Re: Correct Buddhist Calender
The calendar running on my Windows 7 is Mayan. However, the OS is programmed to self-implode when 2012 comes around.

Sadly our friend is the 'Westerner Representative of Llareggub' but thinks he really is representing Buddhism somewhere to someone.
Enjitsu - please stop insulting other religions and demanding attention for your nonsense. Thank you.
On your profile you give your age - according to which calendar?
May as well add something - I believe there is now an 'app' for Android phones which is a Buddhist calendar.

Re: Correct Buddhist Calender
The problem with lunar calendars is that, to keep the lunar cycle synchronized with the solar cycle, you have to vary the year length from 12 to 13 months. Which years have 12 months and which have 13 months is somewhat arbitrary. For example, the Chinese and Tibetan calendars usually coincide, having New Year on the same date, but often they differ by one month because they disagreed on which year was the 13-month year.
An additional problem with a lunar calendar is that it is geographically dependent. The New Moon (the start of a new month) happens at one particular instant all around the world. But, because of time zones, that instant has two different calendar dates in the various time zones around the world. So, a lunar calendar calculated in India will differ from a lunar calendar calculated in Canada, even if they agree on which years have which months.
So, the bottom line is that there cannot be one "correct" lunar calendar. Lunar calendars are as individual as the institutions that publish them.
