mmm wrote:Hi, are you sure it is Jim Valbys workshop? Can you post a link? Thank you.
mmm wrote:Hi, Jim is a great man and very nice person. I suppose what he is trying to say is that one is bound by attachemnt to different yanas and their point of views, which creates some kind conceptual obscuration for naked state, which might be written a lot about in dzogchen tantras. I think this might be truth for very advanced meditators and scholars. Ordinary people are bound by lack of naked awarness or undistracted mindful presence rather then concepts of different yanas. I think Jim is a little bit too critical in this sense. However I respect and admire him as a person and dharma translator and instructor. All the best,m

mmm wrote:Hi, the concepts of yanas are their ideas of base, path and fruit like, e.g. concepts of fruit in mahayana are diffrenet bhumis starting from 1st bhumi up to 10th. So to have an idea of going up through these different levels of realization is a concept that is transcended in dzogchen by a single bhumi. So in this interpretation, keeping these ideas of paths, practices and fruits and being conditioned by them is what one has to be free from. Coming back to "dzogchen without buddhism" I think dzogchen was allways practiced in buddhist cultures and in the context of 9 yanas. Especially regarding the aspect of behaviour or conduct, untill one is very advanced meditator one has to respect cause and effect and apply bodhisattva conduct. Every master says that also ChNN and Lopon Tenzin Namdak. So I guess "dzogchen without buddhism" could mean how not be conditioned by buddhism from pov of dzogchen. bye
