Latest From ABC

Dear ABC members and friends,

Our precious and much loved Guru, Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundrup manifested signs of illness recently. We have therefore invited Khen Rinpoche to come to Singapore to seek medical treatment. After extensive tests and examination by specialists, Khen Rinpoche has been diagnosed to have cancer in the stomach.

We will continue to extend the best medical services to our teacher to manage this health issue. Whatever options available will be explored fully and we will keep you posted of the decisions taken.

For those who would like to do prayers for Khen Rinpoche, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche has advised these practices. There is no particular number to be done Rinpoche just said that for those students who would like to do, these are the practices that come out best for Lama Lhundrup’s health:

1. Read Tsedo Long Life Sutra

Thank you.

Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundrup Rigsel
Abbot of Kopan Monastery
Geshe Lhundrup Rigsel was born in Tibet in 1941, to a poor peasant family. He joined Sera Monastery while still a boy, and in 1959 fled from the Chinese invasion to India. In Buxa, the refugee camp in Northern India where many of the monks were sent by the Indian government, he met Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa, an studied with the great masters such as Geshe Rabten and others.

In the late sixties he was sent by the Abbot of the exiled Sera Monastery to South India to start clearing land for the new monastery. In 1972 he was called to Kopan by the late Lama Yeshe, to teach philosophy to the Kopan monks for three months. The rest is history.

Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundrup has been abbot of Kopan since then, taking care of the ever growing group of monks and nuns and bringing alive Lama Zopa Rinpoche's and Lama Yeshe's vision of Kopan. Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundrup still teaches classes every day, gives advice to visitors and foreigners and is available for each and every sentient being.

----- Forwarded Message ----

Dear Friends,

Recently Khen Rinpoche Lama Lhundrup has been having health problems, and about one week ago Lama Zopa Rinpoche advised Lama Lhundrup to be treated in hospital.

In the meantime Rinpoche has advised pujas and practices to be done at Kopan, as well as the reading of the Golden Light Sutra in Malaysia.

For others who would like to do prayers for Khen Rinpoche’s health to improve, Rinpoche is advising these practices. There is no particular number to be done - Rinpoche just said that for those students who would like to do, these are the practices that come out best for Lama Lhundrup’s health:

1) Read Long life sutra

2) Guru Rinpoche’s prayer eliminating obstacles

We will keep you informed as we know more.

Love
