I suppose this qualifies as "old news", but it never hurts to be reminded that Brit Hume is chock full of .....

Hey, I just took my Bodhisattva vows. Does that mean I can't say that Brit Hume is full of @#$%. I'm not angry and don't harbor any ill-will towards him. In fact I feel a lot of compassion for anyone that politically deluded. That doesn't change the fact that he's still full of @#$%, but I wonder if my Vows prevent me from offering that opinion????

It's good, I think, that we can laugh at stuff like that, even though it really wasn't very funny at the time. I thought Hume demonstrated incredibly poor taste and a remarkable lack of sensitivity and respect. His statement was, in fact, utterly stupid.

And I say that if Christianity offers forgiveness, then why was the church that Ted Haggert worked his butt off to build from nothing taken from him and not given back because of some indiscretions? Some forgiveness, eh?

Don't get me wrong - I have no axe to grind with Christianity or Christians. I just don't think that what Hume said was appropriate, called for or very kind.

I've never heard of Brit Hume before but he seems like a nice guy and he wears a suit so what he says must be true.

I'm now going to become a Christian ASAP.

It's OK to despise Mr Hume even though I've taken vows. Because I've been taught that given enough good wholesome Buddhist faith, my karma can be repaired through regret, repentance and a resolve never to do it again.
It has been the misfortune (not, as these gentlemen think it, the glory) of this age that everything is to be discussed. Edmund Burke, Reflections on the Revolution in France.

For our friends from outside the US&A, here is some context that will make Mr Hume's comments seem normal *and* completely insane.

Read the comments for evidence that intelligent life is alive and well in US America in spite of it all.

Well, that just about sums up Rupert Murdock and his media outlets. We have the same problem here.

Vince Cable (MP) feels the same:
