May all the chicks be reborn in the Pure Lands
May the minds of all beings turn against cruelty and inflicting harm
May all beings cultivate love, kindness and compassion for all beings everywhere
May the people involved in whatever way in killing the chicks turn away from killing
and seek forgiveness for killing
May the poverty of beings that forces them into occupations involving killing
be utterly relieved; May all beings have the resources of life that they need
without having to deprive other beings of their lives

Pray for the chicks and also for the workers who have each killed thousands of beings, both in the drownings and in the days when their poultry business was thriving.

The Youtube footage is of them killing beings - which they would have killed anyway.

If their trade in poultry ceases, more beings will not be killed in the future, by them at least. I wonder how many millions of beings died at their hands before the financial problems.

May all killing there cease.

I have heard before that something similar is happening in all industrialized countries all over the world. Because we use eggs and only hens produce them the useless male chicks are habitually killed. In some other countries carbondioxide is used for this purpose, chicks die when they cannot breath oxygen.
If you stop eating eggs or anything containing eggs would be the right thing to do.
There are many things in chicken farming that can cause atleast a temporary nausea at the idea of eating eggs, or eating chicken. For example there is an automatic slaughtering machine in use in large chicken farms, have you seen it on video??
There is also Pamela Andresson's video against the cruelty at the KFC chicken farms, somewhere in http://www.youtube,.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
In modern countries there are more chicken than there are human beings, so that you maybe understand the need for developing the automatic slaughtering machine, and the other stuff...

Hens stop laying eggs beyond a certain age.
A hen that does not produce eggs is of no use alive to an egg farm.

From Oregon State University:
http://extension.oregonstate.edu/catalo ... nw565/#Age" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Eventually, all hens cease egg production. Normally, chickens produce well until they are 2 to 3 years old, and then egg production declines. Molts become more frequent and prolonged, and physical problems with the ovary or oviduct may occur. After all, when a high-producing hen has laid for 3 years, she may have produced more than 30 times her body weight in eggs.

In some instances, the oviduct becomes less able to expel eggs, and one or more become trapped in the oviduct, a condition called “egg bound.” In other cases, hens ovulate egg yolks that are not collected by the oviduct and hence remain in the body cavity. This is normal for a low percentage of yolks, and the hen simply reabsorbs them. When this “mistake” is an everyday occurrence, the hen is considered an “internal layer.”

Sometimes older hens attempt to pass an extremely large egg or a double-yolk egg. In this case, the oviduct, which normally externalizes when eggs are laid, may not return to its normal position inside the hen’s body. The oviduct remains external, a condition known as prolapse, and becomes a very tempting article for other hens in the flock to pick. Remove such a hen from the flock immediately.

In each of these cases, egg production ceases, and the health of the hen is in jeopardy. There is little that can be done for these hens but to remove them from the flock.
So, indeed, it is best to avoid consuming eggs. I imagine even with organic free-range eggs it is the same because as outlined above the hens which fail to produce eggs are a liability and cost.

Even with eggs both the rooster and hen get the axe eventually.

"Getting the axe" is like normal life cycle, compared to this thing developed by the advancement of technology. Five years ago I saw a film about large chicken farms where young men are working, the whole of their workday they gathered in with their hands the chicken that were to be killed that day. The film interviews these guys, how they had landed at such an occupation, how they felt and so on,... The chicken farms are huge in the world, they must have 10 000 or 100 000 chicken living in them. Slowly the film progresses, and in the end it shows this machine that picks up the unsuspecting chicken by their feet, turns them upside down, and thus hanging the chicken go in line into the insides of the automatic slaughtering machine,...
