The blows and kicks of life

Relay a message

No matter where they're from

They're blessings in disguise

If we but learn a lesson

For the wise

Nothing is to be called bad

Any adversity of life

Is a step in his growth

If he knows to utilize

Hi Ogyen,
What a vast difference?I'm still miles behind and its many many miles. My poem is too direct and can be comprehended with such ease. You really know how to change an amateur poem into one written by a real professional poet.Good, I am learning from the gift that you have and please keep giving that golden touch to my poems whenever you have time to spare.I really appreciate what you have done. You're good, a good Dharma sister.

Birth Will Come

Awakening
Fully completely
Transform your personality will
Erasing your filthy past
The bad sage Saul
Birthed into St. Paul
Don't condemn yourself
How low
Small
How bad you've been
The chance to transform
Awaits any true seeker
Freedom to attain
Bondage and miseries ooze
In that precious second
You enlighten yourself

I often just feel what you're trying to say, and then use your own words to put it a little bit another way. I only write, what I come away with in what you write.

You are the poet. I am the reader/fan. :) In a way, it's fan-poetry. HAHA. I only reply because your poems reveal themselves to me. Like you put this rough diamond there, and I see the gem of what you're trying to say. Does that make sense? It's just an editor's eye  perhaps you just need a second pair of eyes to find what is in your work already. :) I gladly read. Sometimes things jump out at me, sometimes they don't. When they do, I respond. Keep writing, your stuff has real potential!!

This is soooo powerful, but needs something. I don't know what yet, but what I bolded I sense holds the kernel of power for this piece. The whole concept of the poem about awakening I sense lies in this line. It is the cyclical existence of repetition... if it comes to me, I'll let you know.

EGO

Ego,
The invisible veil
Uproots the aspirant
Darkening his learning process
Isolates him
Dis-communicates him
From his conscience,his Guru,
And without austerities
Without modifications
Knowledge flows down the drain

Ego
The great barrier
Sinks the faculty of discrimination
If left unsharpened
Reasoning malfunctions
Leaving no clarity of mind
A clouded mind
Bad for the path to Enlightenment
Good for the path to Confusion.

Production

So much confusion

By-product of renunciates

Imposing rigid discipline

Producing dishonest students

Hypocritical to the degree of infinity

Causing conflicts

Within without

Reflect the indication

One is not

On the path of spirituality.

Welcomed Interruptions

Faith and determination

Rungs on the ladder of enlightenment

Enlightenment can be spoken

Written

Yet never realized

Without faith we bloom intellectual knowledge

With faith we see the most subtle chambers

Determination bulldozes frustrating obstacles

Building the very basis of success

Within and without

The power of determination melts impossibility

We can do it

We have to do it

We have the means to do it

But we don't want to do it

Allowing constant interruptions to willingly bar

The one desired goal

New Feather

Old age, the new childhood

Full of follies, hallucinations

The aged spiritual, the much wiser

Mind purified, energies mastered

Like a camel with water control

Runs from physical to non-physical planes

His father his mother

He couldn't bother

Could I ever be another

To have this new feather?

Making Death A Joy

Mantra

A syllable, set of words

Automatically stored

In the unconscious mind

Unaware,unknown to us

Upon death

The ignorant is frightened

The spiritual one is guided

By the stock in his store

Our mantra will peacefully lead

Through darkness

Becoming the torch bearer

Between death and birth

Make mantra, a rare friend

Needed here and hereafter

Let it create the deep grooves

For our minds to follow spontaneously

Our bodies are garments

Cast them off with ease

Keeping the mantra within our lips

Making death a joy

Boy oh boy.

IF

If I build a temple to pray

Where would the homeless their heads lay?

If I choose a path to stick and stay

Why do I fear of losing my way?

If I shop for clothes to keep me warm

How will my internal-fire ever storm?

If I seek cash from dusk to dawn

Would my internal gems be lost and gone?

I'm Glad My Parents Died

I'm happy that my parents died

They bloated me with such great pride

Mind essence, how do I write?

No fearing,no craving ,nothing to hide

Freedom from them should be the guide

With the joy of their death I never cried

I'm not in sorrow

Nor will I be tomorrow

Nothing is the matter

As life without them would be better

Their death is not at all a bother

Now wisdom and merit can join together

My path will be without any flutter

As Anger was my father

Attachment my mother.

GU RU

Gu indicates darkness

Ru denotes light

Guru dispels darkness of ignorance

Making humanity shiny bright

Remaining unattached he will gloat

Spiritual love is all over his coat

A guru is a solid boat

For crossing the river afloat

Hang on to him not

Worshiping him is out of thought

He should receive love and respect

Our gratitude he does not expect

If he brings Buddha to me

The first bow will go to him

Buddha will be next in line

For giving me a guru so fine.

The Paths

Before me two paths lay

The choice is mine to go either way

One in the world of action

The other of renunciation

None inferior

None superior

Living, working, having a family

Do not condemn I totally

It furnishes the means of living

So time consuming

The other ample time giving

For spiritual practice

Limit in clothing, shelter and food

With meditation always in the mood

Honesty, sincerity, truthfulness, faithfulness

Has to be in both paths

For I have met householders far superior

And renunciates surprisingly inferior

The internal conditions hold the key

Both paths come without a fee.

The apprentice

I let the hen into the coop

Left the hawk to fly the sky

I attached myself to Buddha's hook

Picked up the Dharma by and by

Being new as an apprentice

Twas like climbing a hill's culmination

And during my Samantha practice

I slept soundly in meditation

Downwards flowed my energy

Passing through my penis

Like a drooping little dogy

It leaked through my anus

A beginner should sleep lying down

Never in a meditative position

How could I get Buddha's crown

I'm no hermit, lacked internal bombination.

The lion and the Mouse

We'll reach Buddhaland, the same kind

We'll go our way with the joy we find

Clearly we see bliss is void of substance

Yet we see things with a vast difference

The lion was saved by a mouse so bold

Over and over this story we've been told

My little mouse, the local god

Bail me, I'm Buddha Lion's od

We've lots of ideas old and new

Yet we can't see the real face of the view

It's good to let the mind be clear

The Mouse and the Lion will still appear.

Without Pride of Tide

The voice of silence is supreme

Beyond all levels of consciousness

All methods of communication

We should jack up listening

Stop opposing

Stop arguing with sagas

Just enjoy their presence

Silence will give us everything

Everything the world can never give

Be like a corpse without pride

A sea without tide
