Any written texts from Zhiyi himself explaining his meditation system of samatha and vipasyana?

Some English Translations are available;
http://www.amazon.com/Essentials-Buddhi ... ords=zhiyi
http://www.amazon.com/The-Six-Dharma-Ga ... ords=zhiyi

I'm not sure about the original Chinese texts though.

Seishin

Any free texts? Just need a few lines clearly explaining samatha and vipasyana. I don't see myself reading a whole a book of anything. :lol:

The first link dearreader gave (Dr Swanson's website) includes some free texts. Look at the upper-right hand corner of the page.

The Smaller Text on Calm and Insight, 小止觀
The Greater Text on Calm and Insight, 摩訶止觀
The Six Entrances to the Sublime, 六妙門 and
The Explanation of the Perfection of Dhyana 釋禪波羅密.

The first three are available in English translation, but not the latter.
