pilgrimage in Bodh Gaya
Re: pilgrimage in Bodh Gaya
The benefits of doing your prostrations at Bodh Gaya at the Mahabodhi temple are immense, however why not break it up and do some there and some in Nepal at the Great stupa.....you could also combine this with a solitary retreat in Nepal... You don't have to do them all at once or without a break....other than that...do them in your bedroom..that's good too...

yeah that came into my mind that maybe half and half would be good and maybe a good experience
If the thought of demons
Never rises in your mind,
You need not fear the demon hosts around you.
It is most important to tame your mind within....
In so far as the Ultimate, or the true nature of being is concerned,
there are neither buddhas or demons.
He who frees himself from fear and hope, evil and virtue,
will realize the insubstantial and groundless nature of confusion.
Samsara will then appear as the mahamudra itself….

This is just a general note not directed particularly at you, Futerko. But that scene might as well have taken place in Nepal. I realize part of this conversation is in the department of tourist anecdotes, but I just want to note that I think (from having lived in both Nepal and India too) that the comparisons in this discussion thread are crude and flawed. I agree of course that in terms of climate and tourist facilities, Boudha is in a completely different league from Bodhgaya. But please lay off the crude generalizations about Nepal vs India, which even if you just for one thing consider the size differences are far from meaningful. Step right across the border from Bihar to the Nepali Terai, and you won't notice much difference, etc.futerko wrote:That reminds me of a story of someone travelling by road from Nepal to India.
At first he didn't immediately notice any great change until a truck came along with two young boys hanging off the front - one was collecting the leaking water from the radiator in a can and then passing it up to the other boy who then refilled it - and that symbolised exactly his experience of India throughout.
Good luck with the pilgrimage Konchok Zenpa.
Best wishes
