I once was afraid;
Now I am fearless.
Because what is there to fear?
There is no self that is in danger,
"Fear," is only a bodily feeling,
Which tenses the body up,
Quickens the heartbeat and breathing,
Preparing the body for battle:
If used properly,
Fear is a powerful ally,
Waves of energy to ride off of.
I wield the shining sword of wisdom,
But I must be so careful!
I must be endlessly calm, kind, and warm,
Else I hurt myself or others,
A noble one is the only one
who can wields this sword.
May fearlessness not become recklessness,
May cowardice never arise again,
I shall hold this sword forever
And annihilate all demons!
Heavens hear my battlecry!
Some poetry

Some beautiful piece of work there... I will indulge a quick response it evoked in me.
there is no self
so i am fearless
fear is my ally
only body
and tension
and mind
waves of energy
ride off of
a shining sword of wisdom
has a narrow blade
no room for error
else reckless and
bold
i'll hurt all that I hold
may i take hold
if cowardice arises
to be kind, warm
and endless
a battlecry of freedom
rising out of
the darkest night

"To love. To be loved. To never forget your own insignificance. To never get used to the unspeakable violence and the vulgar disparity of life around you. To seek joy in the saddest places. To pursue beauty to its lair. To never simplify what is complicated or complicate what is simple. To respect strength, never power. Above all, to watch. To try and understand. To never look away. And never, never, to forget." –Arundhati Roy

Snakes and ghosts which used to haunt me,
Are now like many lions, wolves, and dogs,
Which I hold with many leashes:
Doubt when tamed is called wisdom,
Excitement when tamed is called energy,
Laziness when tamed is called relaxation,
Fear when tamed is called caution,
Anger when tamed is called courage,
Desire when tamed is called skillful rebirth.
Energy & relaxation balance eachother,
Caution & courage balance eachother,
Skillful rebirth & wisdom balance eachother:
And ignorance when tamed
is called Buddhahood.

I am a soldier at war on two fronts:
With my self and the world.
But I am unstoppable,
And cannot die;
Because whatever might be seen or touched,
That is only a shadow.

When I do not take the bait,
The hooks seem more alluring,
And when I take the bait,
Desirable things are swept away,
And what's left is only suffering.

Re: Some poetry
Becoming a Buddha is like
Squeezing an entire universe
Into a space the size of a dot.
Take all the knowledge
Of this universe
And whatever lay beyond
Then squeeze it into your mind
In a single moment;
It cannot be done by anyone.
A big crunch is a big headache.
A little bit of light brings happiness,
Much better than darkness,
But there is light so astoundingly bright,
In it all things disappear into clarity,
Afraid of seeing myself and others vanish,
I am terrified and exhilarated.
Am I losing my mind,
Or is my mind losing itself?
From a certain point-of-view,
Buddha is not far from Mara.
May my devil-nature be destroyed,
And never fully realized,
Into that dragon the size of a mountain,
Covered in scorpions.

Re: Some poetry
I play the guitar and I think, "Someday I will be gone, so will this instrument, and all the musicians and instruments of the world; music itself will no longer exist."
That makes me very sad.
I further think, "Where does the music come from and where does it go? Does it come from or go to a special place? Could it resonate through the air, through outer space, beyond this universe, to a place where all music is heard and kept, where all lost things are found, which all souls can call home?"
It's like a snowflake that falls from the sky, beautiful for just a moment, until it hits the ground and melts.

Of the many many fine arts
The finest is music
Not comprised of songs
Not melodies of words only
But of the most subtle sounds
The nada, the great vibrations
That spontaneously inspire all cells
Making them dance
The stream of life sings
To a particular rhythm
Flowing through the corners of life
Giving a new experience
Each and every time
In one direction it's music
In the other it's dance
Then paintings, then poetry
But the king of all forms
The soundless music
The music for insiders
When the veil of ignorance is lifted
Hear the finest music
Far beyond
This sound of silence
This voice of silence
The perennial music
The height of spiritual estacy
The highest state of joy
For self realization
(keep )
Individual,my youngest son is taking up music. He wants to rock the world. So I wrote a poem on music, a combination of his music and mine.I can't play any musical instruments, just good for nothing at that.
