If the thought of demons
Never rises in your mind,
You need not fear the demon hosts around you.
It is most important to tame your mind within....
In so far as the Ultimate, or the true nature of being is concerned,
there are neither buddhas or demons.
He who frees himself from fear and hope, evil and virtue,
will realize the insubstantial and groundless nature of confusion.
Samsara will then appear as the mahamudra itself….

It is a sadhana for Sarvadidya related to the yoga tantra sarvadurgatiparishodana i.e. total purification of all evil destinies.
Savavidya is what some Kagyus, and the Sakyas and Gelugpas use for guiding people through the bardo. In Nyingma, one normally uses a practice connected with the peaceful and wrathful deities.

Re: Kunrig - uprooting samsara
can you use the sadhana in and of itself, is an ''independent'' practice to purify evil destinies, and do you need the lung and trid for it, or are these necessary?

this sadhana is Sarwabid Vairochana.
can you tell me more of its uses? can you use it as a tool to purify evil destinies or is it a practice done for the dead of a close one.

In the Karma Kagyu, the tradition of Sarva Vid Mahavairochana is practiced in three year retreat. It has more mudras than anything I'm familiar with--the mudras alone are pretty complex. In Karma Kagyu tradition, you definitely need wang, lung and tri, and the tri would be pretty "hands-on," I'd expect!

There's also a clip in the film "The Message of the Tibetans," of Karma Kagyu lamas doing this practice. If you have not seen that movie, you should make an effort to see it for sure.
