“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.

Don't you just love Buddhism and the wise people resulting from it?

Sujato is a hero standing up for gay rights. :namaste:

Here in Canada we just call it marriage. The world has yet to implode.

And we get bragging rights, cause we were the first!

All in all I hope things become a little more equal down under, and around the world.

EDIT: I cannot read, it seems. Canada was the fourth, not first.

Dhamma is not about equality or inequality. Even more, it is not about sexual relations. It's about overcoming them 8-)

Star Trek's George Takei was married in a Buddhist temple back in 2008 (in Los Angeles).

Gain and loss, status and disgrace,
censure and praise, pleasure and pain:
these conditions among human beings are inconstant,
impermanent, subject to change.

Knowing this, the wise person, mindful,
ponders these changing conditions.
Desirable things don’t charm the mind,
undesirable ones bring no resistance.

His welcoming and rebelling are scattered,
gone to their end,
do not exist.
- Lokavipatti Sutta
