A pathetic worldling might be born. From childhood, he is picked on by other children because he has certain odd physical characteristics and bullies sense weakness in him to exploit for their amusement. He develops depression and with depression comes laziness. With laziness comes poor hygiene.
So, this worldling already has odd physical characteristics: His eyes, eyebrows, nose, jaw, chin, ears, or body are either too big, too small, or misshapen. But on top of that, he wears dirty clothes, smells bad, has yellow teeth, bad breath, and does not style his hair or wear perfume or jewelry (jewelry in the sense of the culture -- in western cultures men do not wear jewelry as women do). He may take interest in women, but around them he lacks confidence or is outright terrified. With his lack of confidence, others think he is stupid because he doesn't know how to defend himself, either in speech or in action.
But if he one day realizes the true nature of the world all that can change:
He brushes his teeth, so they are white, uses soap and perfume so he is clean and smells good, and has good fashion to create good impressions. He develops almost superhuman strength, energy, and endurance. His intuition, as sharp as a laser, makes his charisma great. Because he makes good merit, his skin becomes radiant. Because he exercises, he tones his muscles. And because he practices good meditation, his eyes and words glow with the light of intelligence. And most of all, he expresses confidence and fearlessness, being respectful and kind to all, but still being aloof, seeing himself above women, not feeling the need to be obsessed with them or chase them. And (if the women do not think he is a homosexual
When wisdom is like this, it's like the devil brings women to you on a silver plate, to entice you. A lesser man might indulge (and this can be a moral indulgence -- if he raises a good family, with mindfulness and love). But when Arahants and Buddhas see this silver plate, they say, "Thank you, Mara. But I am not hungry."
