I was just wondering who Glenn Mullin received authorization from for conferring initiations.

The list of Glenn’s other teachers and initiation masters includes the Dalai Lama, Sakya Trizin Rinpoche, Kalu Rinpoche, Ngakpa Yeshe Dorje Rinpoche, Tai Situ Rinpoche, Khenchen Konchok Gyaltsen, Geshe Ngawang Dargyey, Geshey Rabten, and Gongsar Tulku.

It's my understanding that H. H. the Dalai Lama suggested
that he wear the ngakpa zen and serve the function of a Lama.
Basically, he was told, "You know enough to do it."
Seems to me I heard this from a Geshe Lharampa from Ganden
that I know. I know that's hearsay -- maybe others know more.

Are you considering taking empowerments from Glenn Mullin?

It is my understanding that one of his nyingma lamas gave him the go ahead. Maybe others as well. I think it is a misconception that a teacher has to carry a little card around from every lama they have ever had with a list of approved subject matters in which they can speak publicly on.

I asked out of surprise after finding out that Glenn Mullin had conferred a Yamantaka initiation in S. Korea. Western Dharma teachers in the Gelug lineage who are publically known to give any initiations, let alone Highest Yoga Tantra are far and few between. If done with the blessings of the lineage lamas, it is a great thing worth rejoicing in.
