Harrison Ford : What Lies Beneath ???

Post by buddhaflower »

Dear All,

I've been watching this movie over and over on DVD lately. It's a great thriller with a smart, thought provoking plot. If it's your first time seeing it, you never would have guessed what really "lies beneath." The scenary in the movie is so cozy and beautiful for a thriller.

What Lies Beneath

http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/i ... eath+movie" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
-------
Claire Spencer (Michelle Pfeiffer) moves to Vermont with her husband, renowned scientist Dr. Norman Spencer (Harrison Ford), after a serious car accident that leaves gaps in her memory. Combined with her daughter Caitlin's (Katharine Towne) departure for college, Claire is profoundly affected.

It had been a year since Dr. Norman Spencer betrayed his beautiful wife Claire. But with Claire oblivious to the truth and the affair over, Norman's life and marriage seem perfect--so perfect that when Claire tells him of hearing mysterious voices and seeing a young woman's wraithlike image in their home, he dismisses her mounting terror as delusion. However, as Claire moves closer to the truth, it becomes clear that this apparition will not be dismissed, and has come back for Dr. Norman Spencer... and his beautiful wife.

Dear Members,

I watched this movie with my mom who loved Gregory Peck/Audrey Hepburn very much...I was a teenager back then..and I didn't understand why Princess didn't marry the man that she loved..she could throw tantrum until her king-daddy did what she wanted...If I were her, I didn't care being a princess..a man that handsome..Oh goodbye king-daddy, hello handsome sweetheart!!!

 Roman Holiday, starring Gregory Peck/Audrey Hepburn

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the very best of the classic movies from the past!
This should be a must see film for all ages. It has it all....humor, romance, heart felt emotion, and a dazzling co-star...ROME!.

This is the most romantic film I have ever seen, perhaps partly because Miss Hepburn is so wonderful, but also because the script in a sense turns the usual woman's romantic fantasy upside down. Instead of the woman finding that the man she is in love with has fabulous wealth and position, it is the other way around!

The ending manages to be realistic yet romantic. There is a hint of something almost spiritual beyond what happens. So convincing are Hepburn and Peck that one can almost believe the story is true.

I have a weakness for movies about unrequited love, or love that goes on forever, or love that is caught at some perfect moment and lives eternally in that moment. Roman Holiday is one of those near perfect movies that plays beautifully upon one of these themes.

The sets in Rome are charming, especially Peck's bachelor apartment. The bit players, especially Peck's landlord are excellent and the events are dreamy in just the way a romantic meeting in Rome ought to be.

This was Audrey Hepburn's debut in a starring role. She was 24-years-old. Here she plays a reigning European princess visiting Rome who would like an escape from her daily regime of official duties, thus the title and theme of the movie, a Roman holiday.
Gregory Peck plays an American newspaper reporter living in the Eternal City. We first see him playing poker with his cronies, and losing. His relative "poverty" and Princess Ann's fabulous wealth and station present a formidable barrier to their ever finding true love and marital happiness. Part of the fun of the script is in seeing how this will play out and how their differences are resolved in the end.

Love love the movie..tears in my eyes when I watched with my mom years ago...tears when I watched with my hubby today..I'm so emotional!!

SCHOOL TIES

Sawaddee Ka :anjali:

I watched 'School Ties' with my daughter many years ago(high school)...we loved the movie . I happened to see it in DVD at HALF PRICE BOOK STORE last week...I bought it..watched with my husband...he really liked it...very very good movie indeed *****

Image

School Ties is a touching movie, starring: Brendan Fraser/Matt Damon/Chris O'Donnell/Ben Affleck.

A young Brendan Fraser is stunning as David Green, a working class Jewish kid accepted to one of the most prestigious preparatory schools in the country. It would only be for one year, but what a year. With dreams of going to Harvard, this was his way in. He keeps his religion a secret from the new friends he makes, but when it all comes out in the end, slurs are thrown and the people he thought he could trust leave David high and dry.

It speaks of an era when there were 100 different slurs for each religion and race, and the people who actually believed that somehow they were better. No character is portrayed in this negative light better than Charlie Dillon, brought to life by none other than Matt Damon. The seeds of his jealousy are planted within the first fifteen minutes and as the movie progresses you see Dillon become more desperate for his former status after David Green takes his position on the football team and in the life of a girl he thinks to be his.

Other standouts include Chris O'Donnell, playing Fraser's fictional roommate, who is forced to deal with the situation a bit more close up than some of their classmates. Randall Batinkoff, though not well known, gives a fabulous performance as Damon's fictional roommate, having to decide which is more important: his best friend and roommate of 4 years, or his morals and conscience urging him to speak up in defense of David Green. Surprisingly, Cole Hauser, who generally is cast as a not-so-nice guy comes off completely different in this picture. His character, Jack Connors seems rude and hard-nosed throughout, but when it's all on the line, he really delivers, making it known that Connors is not the bigot he has been made out as.

The movie was well scripted and brilliantly cast, from the guy who no one thought would come out on top (Fraser) to the guy who would be expected to rule the world (Damon). Set in a time when life was a little rougher and people were judged more harshly, School Ties really speaks of the fear and degradation one might face for being "different", and tells of the strength and courage that comes with being "different". Some might say that the movie is too harsh with its message of bigotry, but that was a time when it was very real and it must embraced in order to learn from it and not have it happen again.

They were the BEACH GIRLS, an inseparable trio who spent their summers in the beautiful northeast coastal town of Hubbard's Point. But that was a long time ago. Now the past is about to resurface when Nell, the daughter of one of these women, returns to this same sand and surf with her handsome widower dad. Two generations explore love, loss and friendship while discovering how past secrets affect the present. This fun/romantic six-hour series will truly entertain you and family.

Sawaddee Ka :hi:

I watched 2 movies today...I must say that "A Killer Within" is a taut, fast-paced thriller with more than its share of unusual plot twists, and an excellent cast of experienced actors. I think it's 1 of the best movies I have ever seen!!

Image

Addison Terrill (C. THOMAS HOWELL), a former district attorney now in a lucrative private practice, has what seems to be the perfect life. Sharing a successful law firm with his best friend, Sam Moss (BEN BROWDER), Addison’s career is on the rise and he has a luxurious home, a beautiful, sexy wife, Becky (SEAN YOUNG), and a bright young son. But life as he knows it is turned upside down when he arrives home from work late one night to find his wife brutally murdered and his son unconscious in critical condition at the hospital. Now, fingered as a suspect by the police, Addison must race to find the real killer and prove his innocence before it's too late. Out of desperation with no where else to turn, Addison must put his trust in the only other person tied to the case, ex-cop Jesus Vargas (GIANCARLO ESPOSITO). Bitter and humiliated by his removal from the police force, Vargas holds Addison personally responsible for ending his career in law enforcement, and his motivation for finding the killer may not be to Addison's advantage. In order to solve the case and find the true killer, both men must put their differences aside and their lives on the line. Their search leads them through the city's underworld and into a wicked web of deceit. As hard truths become revealed and dark secrets begin to unfold, the ring of suspects close in around Addison and he finds himself questioning the very people he trusted.

A KISS BEFORE DYING

Sawaddee Ka

Image

This is one movie you don't want to miss. It is very spellbinding, and even has a couple scenes that will surprise.Matt Dillon is just superb in his role, and the chemistry between him, and Sean Young is unmatchable. There are some very surprising scenes that will really catch you off guard. Great movie! The acting is great and I really like both actors.

A KISS BEFORE DYING

Matt Dillon, Sean Young and Max Von Sydow star in this chilling romantic thriller from writer-director James Dearden (Fatal Attraction). Troubled by the death of her twin sister, Ellen Carlson (Young) unwittingly falls in love with an ambitious young man, Jonathan Corliss (Dillon). As she investigates Dorothy's death, a chance encounter reveals how little Ellen really knows about her husband, and what she doesn't know may kill her in this heart-stopping suspense thriller based on Ira Levin's best-selling novel.

REINDEER GAMES

Sawaddee Ka :namaste:

This Friday morning is so nice to introduce a very good/exciting movie, starring Ben Affleck/Charlize Theron. Reindeer Games is an exhilarating thriller, with plenty of action and humor. There are some exciting moments and the film is very suspenseful. Affleck's initial guise as Nick is quite funny, along with the moments throughout the film that he has to convince Sinise he's who he says he is, be that Rudy Duncan or Nick Cassidy.

Image

After being imprisoned for six years on a grand theft auto charge, Rudy Duncan and his cellmate Nick are finally going to be paroled. After hearing endless stories during his incarceration of Nick's romantic correspondence to a woman named Ashley he has never met, Rudy is looking forward to returning to his family. When Nick is killed during a prison riot, Rudy decides to assume Nick's identity and meet up with the unknown woman. Burdened with knowledge of Nick's Indian casino employment past, Rudy finds himself in too deep with Ashley's brother Gabriel and is forced to cooperate with a casino robbery that Gabriel and his gang have been planning with Nick in mind.

Sawaddee Ka :namaste:

Yesterday I watched JACK REACHER starring Tom Cruise, very exciting movie...if you love action/suspense......Tom Cruise did a good job... and the story line will keep you all on the edge of your seats.

Image

Ex-military investigator Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) leaps off the pages of Lee Child's bestselling novel and onto the big screen in this explosive thriller. When an unspeakable crime is committed, all evidence points to the suspect in custody who offers up a single note in defense: "Get Jack Reacher!"

The movie begins with a sniper shooting down four people in Pittsburg. The evidence quickly points to James Barr, a former Army sniper with a disturbing past. But maybe the evidence points at Barr too quickly. No sooner is Barr taken into custody when his is beaten nearly to death by other convicts and left in a coma. Now the mystery becomes one of whether Barr will even come out of his coma to be put on trial. Enter Jack Reacher, a former military policeman who despises Jack Barr from their shared military history. Reacher is only too willing believe that Barr did the crime he's accused of. But when Local criminals try to take out Reacher, he decides to give the case a 2nd look. Soon he's unraveling a much deeper conspiracy..........

Too hot to go outside your house?? Well, you may enjoy watching movie in your living room....how about SIDE EFFECTS, starring Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Channing Tatum. Wow!! If you want a movie to keep you on the edge of you're seat this is it. You won't really know till the end of the movie who the bad person is.

Image

This is a psychological thriller movie about an experimental drug that has chilling and deadly side effects. A great story of justice having been served to a person that used the stigma of mental illness in a very cold and calculating way.

The Contender

Sawaddee Ka

If you like politic movie with good plot, you'll really enjoy THE CONTENDER, starring Jeff Bridge. I never like politic, but I like this movie very much.....This movie was a great movie. It showed how a woman in power was a great threat to this "Man's World". Joan Allen did a wonderful job portraying herself as a woman who would only accept the same treatment men received and nothing less. She was a strong woman who had an inner strength that motivated her and kept her head held high even in the most demeaning of circumstances.

Image

When the truth becomes a weapon, power comes at a stunning price. Gary Oldman, Joan Allen, Jeff Bridges and Christian Slater deliver electrifying performances in this controversial, suspenseful and critically-acclaimed thriller that the Movies call "exciting and unusually intelligent, two very enthusiastic thumbs up!" Sometimes you can assassinate a leader without firing a shot.

Blood And Orchids

Sawaddee Ka :hi:

I have a great movie that shows the consequences of.... PASSION...ANGER...DELUSION..Cruelty, Lies, Adultery, and Vengeance. Set in Hawaii in 1937. Amid wealthy Plantation Owners, and an American Navel Base. It is based on actual events that happened in 1932. Another very good example of the early prejudice against the native Hawaiians by the military and white owners who treated them like second class people.

Image

This is an interesting story that happens in Hawaii with Kris Kristofferson as the dedective in charge of the case against some Hawaiian-boys who were charged with raping a white-lady. Interesting story with lots of twists and turns. I would like you to see the movie ...so I'll not tell you more..............

Tom Cruise stars in Oblivion, an original and groundbreaking cinematic event from the visionary director of Tron: Legacy and producers of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. *****JOY RIDE***** !!

Sawaddee ka :hi:

I and my daughter love this movie..not because Paul walker is so handsome....It's because Joy Ride is an awesome movie....lots of action and a good thriller! IT IS NOT one of those movies that slow down just when it was getting good, it stayed on the action and kept us guessing as to what will happen next!

Image

The story is about 2 brothers embark on a road trip, they play a mindless little joke on a truck driver and well the joke backfires on them. When a psychotic trucker takes offense at the pranks , the young kids are sucked into a whirlpool of terror.

THE DEAD ZONE

Sawaddee Ka :hi:

I watched this movie with my daughter years ago, The Dead Zone is based on a novel by Stephen King, but The Dead Zone is a surprise. While it has great atmospheric eeriness and undeniably scary moments, The Dead Zone is at heart a sensitive and thoughtful portrayal of main character Johnny Smith's dilemma. Christopher Walken, king of the vaguely creepy, plays Smith, a man who awakens from a five-year coma with the very mixed blessing of second sight. At the mere touch of a hand, Smith is unwillingly launched into scenes of past and future terror. Foreseeing the future appears to be a 'gift' at first, but ends up causing problems…
