Welfare is awesome for the wealthy

Postby greentara » Sat Jul 20, 2013 12:29 am

Last Sunday, CBS News’ Bob Schieffer confronted Republican Rep. Mike Kelly (R-PA) on the issue of food stamps, saying, “You pass a farm bill in the House that gives billions of dollars, much of it to large corporations that own farms. It’s almost like welfare for the wealthy. But you don’t include a dollar for hungry people for food stamps. What kind of message is that?”

I tried really hard, for all of half a minute, not to let myself be negative about that but failed. :emb:
The answer is simple: It's a Republican message.

A partial clip of that interview. Unfortunately it doesn't have Rep. Kelly's response. Other Schieffer clips keep hanging on me and I have to reboot my machine. There is another clip available from the same day with Rep. Kelly and another congressperson but I think they discuss immigration in that one.
