Merigar Tara statue

Postby dzogchungpa » Sun Jun 23, 2013 1:25 am

In this video filmed at Merigar:

starting at 1 minute in a statue of what appears to be Tara is shown, which I find very appealing.
Does anyone know anything about this statue, e.g. who is the artist, what is the crystal ball about and so on?
I would also like to know if reproductions are available.

HM.

Most intriguing. A magnificent image, for sure.
The crystal ball is not an implement I've seen in any other Tara.
Yangchenma is depicted like this, but she has a Melong mirror that is sitting in a lotus at her ear, like all the other 2 arm taras.

This isn't Tara, it's Dakini Gomadevi, she is linked to ChNN's Longsal Terma.

Here is the only place you can buy a Gomadevi statue.

OK, thanks. I was specifically interested in a reproduction of the statue shown in the video, but that is a nice one too. Does anyone know who the artist is?

Yes, in the Dzogchen teachings... she's a lineage holder in the transmission of Dzogchen in this world. I believe she was either Indian or Oddiyanese. And reading her name or learning of her is just fine for anyone.
