Let's Send Greg To His Retreat This Year

Post by Karma Dorje »

Dharma Friends,

Here's the opportunity for us to make a difference for one of our own members with very little pain. Greg Kavarnos spends a lot of time here volunteering his time to keep our discussions on track and civil.
He has a retreat coming up at the end of this month that is the first in a seven year cycle that he won't be able to attend simply for lack of funds in this really tough time in Greece.

I don't know about you, but I've been spending the last few years paying for bailouts of the banks that caused the mess of which Greg is collateral damage. I think I would prefer to help the people who are actually suffering from the greed and rash decisions of the banks.

Let's convince Greg to put up a request for funds on the Offering Bowl. I'll put up the deposit fee for the retreat, so all we need to come up with is money for food and his travel up to the retreat center.

What do you guys think? We have three weeks to get it together and with only small contributions we can make it happen!

Cheers,

KD

It's a wonderful idea - i just thought something similar today when i was cooking for my kids...
And this would not be a donation only for Greg as a single person, but for the whole spreading of the Dharma in this universe - like a little falling stone starts an avalanche...
I love that idea  Please let us make it real.

I'd kick a few bucks towards this too.

This is the context for this particular discussion, in case anyone's in the dark as to why this idea was proposed and why it makes sense.

Depending on how long the retreat is, I'll pitch-in. A few months would be great.

I trust the retreat does not have an internet connection.

I am unbelievably flattered by all these responses!!! :emb:

Thank you all VERY much! :thanks:

I am waiting on a response for a job (it's a shitty summer bar tending job, but after two years unemployment...) at the end of this week. If there is no response then I will set up an "Offering Bowl" account on Monday.

Thank you all for giving a damn!

OK gang, because of the short time frame before the retreat starts, we are going to do this through Paypal.

Please send a PM to Greg for his Paypal account.

The total we need to raise now is €410. It's not much if we all chip in a little and then Greg won't miss the important first year of a 7 year program with his main teacher.

If we can't for whatever reason get him there, Greg will refund to everyone that gives.

Thanks everyone!

250euro!

For those that have donated, it seems I made a typo with the address, it should be hotmail.com NOT homail.com (I left out the "t") please recheck the address details for the payment and sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused.
