Deciphering transliteration

Post by Tsewang »

Hi

I was sent a prayer but I have trouble making out some of the words. If anyone knows these prayers please could you render it in proper Wylie transliterated form with correct spelling for me? Thank you. It is a prayer to Buddha Shakyamuni, second verse is the dedication:

MALUI SEMCHEN KUNGI GONJUR PIE
DUDAY POONGCHE MIZED JOMZED LHA
NGONAM MALUI JIZHIN KHENJUR PIE
CHOMDEN KHORCHE NAYDIR SHEKSU SOL

.
DEZHIN SHEKPA KHEKU CHIDA DANG
KHORDANG KUTSE TSE DANG ZHINGKHAM DANG
KHEKU TSENCHOK ZANGPO CHIDA WA
DEDA KHONANG DAKSOK JURWAR SHOK

ma lus sems can kun gyi mgon gyur pa
bdud sde'i dpung bcas mi bzad 'joms mdzad lha
dngos rnams ma lus ji bzhin mkhyen gyur pa
bcom ldan 'khor bcas gnas 'dir gshegs su gsol

de bzhin gshegs pa khyed sku ci 'dra dang
'khor dang sku tshe'i tshad dang zhing khams dang
khyed kyi mtshan mchog bzang po ci 'dra ba
de 'dra kho nar bdag sogs 'gyur bar shog

I think that's it. The transliteration is in a Khampa accent so I'm guessing on some of the words and I'm fixing what I think are some mistakes by the transliterator.
Where is this from? Perhaps I can find the Tibetan with a little more info.
Anyway, I hope that helps.

Thank you very much! You are amazing.

It was sent by a Tibetan Lama to me who tried his best to render it into transliterated form for my benefit but you are right, it is not Lhasa dialect.

Are you able to give me the English translation as well?

You are very welcome. It was actually fun trying to figure it out. And if you ever do find the Tibetan, please let me know if I got it right. As for the translation, I can at least give you the gist of it. The first verse is something like:

Protector of all sentient beings without exception,
Divine subjugator of Mara's frightful hordes,
Knower of all things without exception, just as they are,
Victorious One, along with your retinue, please approach this place.

The second verse is a little bit harder to to say nicely in English, but it's basically listing attributes and then the last line is something like, "may I and others become just like that." Anyway, that's the basic idea, but perhaps somebody else would like to try to clean up the language and give you a proper translation.
