theory of personality based on archetypes
Hello. My name is Kimani Shorter. I have developed a typology based on Carl Jung's theory of archetypes. I have also developed a assessment to figure out which type you are.

So basically you are here to sell something .

No I'm not selling anything. The assessment and everything else is for free on my site. I'm giving it away. I'm just promoting a way of thinking more-so than selling anything.

Some people may find it useful but I can't see any particular connection to Buddhism - which is what we're mostly here for.
Actually, when you think about it, Buddhism is already a pretty good framework for examining the problems your system looks at.

The Buddha taught a path to freedom from suffering and the causes of suffering.Kimani wrote:How so?Kim O'Hara wrote:Kimani wrote:Actually, when you think about it, Buddhism is already a pretty good framework for examining the problems your system looks at.

Do you see any benefit to my system? I think it helps you / acts as a guide in understand how your unconscious / subconscious mind works. It brings it to the surface and gives you an understanding of how you approach the world around you. How you would approach careers and people and what strengths and weaknesses you have that best allow you to do this.
Re: theory of personality based on archetypes
Apparently Kim has a much more grandiose estimation of your system.Kimani wrote:Do you see any benefit to my system? Can you summarize your theory in a couple sentences?
It’s eye blinking.

As I said, it may help some people. To clear up Shel's misunderstanding and answer your question, no, I don't see any value in it for myself. Why not? Because I know better systems: the dharma for many questions, Myers-Briggs for the questions you seem focused on, MBCT for others ... there are a lot of tools and a lot of paths to choose from.Kimani wrote:Do you see any benefit to my system? Re: theory of personality based on archetypes
These archetype pairs spell out personality types / disorders. A person without a disorder doesn't have such prominent archetypes. The archetypes become more prominent in people with disorders. These three types that result from the archetype pairs are a new way of looking at the unconscious mind.LastLegend wrote:Can you summarize your theory in a couple sentences?
Re: theory of personality based on archetypes
Archetypes represent an underlying order.
Re: theory of personality based on archetypes
There are systems like the Meyer Briggs Type Indicator which is widely used in HR and applied psychology. So using the archetypes as the basis for personality analysis is not actually a new idea. The place for it is a University department rather than a Buddhist forum, I would suggest. It has no particular relevance for Buddhist studies that I can see.

Re: theory of personality based on archetypes
I've already posted this on several typology / personality type forums and Myers Briggs forums.
But I also found some articles about how Jung found some overlap between his ideas and Buddhism so I thought it wouldn't hurt to post it on here

I’ve made lot of progress last time I was here
Got UDC a local university involved
Was introduced to a grad school dean there by an office counselor
Also got a group home supervisor to help with the validity testing plan.
Got Montgomery county schools system involved as well as Dr Ballard a psychologist from a local clinic to help shape the test
