This temple, dedicated to Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, is known as 'The Kwan Inn Teng' (Pavilion of Avalokitesvara) was founded in 1952, located in the oldest part of city, Petaling Jaya in the state of Selangor, West Malaysia.
With the mission started by the late Elder Master Ven Jìng An(镜盦), who originated from Fujian, China, it has grown from a simple temple to a large one in a place where it was a remote barren land to a bustling residential and commercial area.
Between 1968, 1984 and up until today, it had underwent renovations and expansions to accommodate a Main Shrine Hall, small pharmacy, library, education centers, car park, Sutra Canon Hall, Sangha quarters, gardens, tea house and so forth.
In 1973, it was given the right to establish the "Guanyin Pavilion Petaling Welfare Association", for the welfare of the elderly and sick, with a charity status today known as the "Guanyin Pavilion Welfare Fund" (Kwan Inn Teng Foundation).
In 1991, it was privileged to have received imperial Buddha relics from Thailand.
And by 1992, the Elder Master pioneered a homegrown magazine called 'Mercy' ('慈悲' or also Compassion) and even had a fund raised known as the 'Mercy First Aid Fund' by its third quarterly issue for charitable welfare purposes.

The late Elder Master was succeeded by the current Abbot, Ven Ming Yi in 1999 (here, here and here) together with the Temple Superintendent, Ven Master Ming Ji (here and here)

Persatuan Meditasi Fo Guang Shan Selangor (Fo Guang Shan Meditation Society of Selangor-West Malaysia)
Located just 5 minutes away by walking from where I used to live, my affinities with this place dated back to 1998 until 2001 and am still visiting this place from time to time for New/Full Moon or Solemnity Days.

It was this place where I received the Triple Refuge/Five Precepts in an English private ceremony (due to certain circumstances....that's another long story...). Being a shop lot, it has a kitchen with dining areas for the public and Monastics, office reception, Dharma bookstore, 2 visitors room, an office for the Abbess or Resident Monastic, a strictly herbal only TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) clinic with a qualified Chinese physician, a secondary meeting hall, more offices for Fo Guang Shan affiliates, Main Shrine/Western Hall of Merits and Sangha quarters.

The Monastics are rotated every few years and so in one round, it's all Bhikshus or another will be an all Bhikshunis team. During my time, they were very fortunate to have had a very outgoing and visionary minded Abbess for the Malaysian Chapters and who was also my Preceptor. Her assistant, was an equally strict and particularly detailed personality, from whom I have learned so much on Chinese Mahayana Buddhism in both aspects of Teaching and Ritual, with an emphasis of Fo Guang Shan, of course.

What one sees today in the photos are the renovations and expansions done throughout the years.
The Main Shrine used to be a walk in type of wooden built panel but now one sees it as just a standard layout.
The Western Hall of Merits has undergone 2 changes so far in total.
