The larger the anatomical area, the more sensory/motor pathways there are for that area in the human brain. (When it comes to the six senses, I wonder how much clay we would need to represent the intellect...)

In any event, perhaps it will be of interest. We can thank for this.

The OP presumably shows a typical mapping, but I know that the percentages devoted to various parts of the body do change with training. Notably, violinists' left-hand area is enlarged (the left hand controls pitch, which is much more critical than the right hand's job), and one would imagine that the auditory area of all musicians would be enlarged.
