Source of consciousness Vs Object of consciousness

Postby DarwidHalim » Thu Nov 03, 2011 2:41 pm

Dear Members,

Without object of consciousness, can we have the source of consciousness?
I am not here nor there.
I am not right nor wrong.
I do not exist neither non-exist.
I am not I nor non-I.
I am not in samsara nor nirvana.
To All Buddhas, I bow down for the teaching of emptiness. Thank You!

Let's use example between eyes consciousness and a car.

Without a car as an object, can we have eyes consciousness?
I am not here nor there.
I am not right nor wrong.
I do not exist neither non-exist.
I am not I nor non-I.
I am not in samsara nor nirvana.
To All Buddhas, I bow down for the teaching of emptiness. Thank You!

Since you already have a number of "cause and effect, first cause" threads going, time to lock this one.

A deva in the sphere of the unconscious who having a perception immediately falls from that
existence to another. Recalling the past existence, but no other wrongly feels that there is
a first cause
, a first existence.

Digha Nikaya 1

"there is no first beginning, no first beginning is knowable"
Samyutta Nikaya 15.1-2
