Would you create a world with no sexual desires?

Postby destroydesire » Sun Oct 16, 2011 11:59 am

If you are given a chance to change the world..

what kind of a world would you change it into?

Would you still create a world where humans waste their time and energies wallowing in fulfillment of their desires? Especially sexual desires?

Or would you create a world where all desires are destroyed? Especially sexual desires?

Would you create a world where the first, sexual chakra is removed from humanity?

No.

Aside from that world not lasting very long, I don't think there is anything wrong with sexual desire. My intuition is that the problems in human nature that make many people get bothered by sex are the same problems that drive a chunk of the human condition. If someone was giving me a magic wand I would make those problems, rather than sexual desire disappear.
In reading the scriptures, there are two kinds of mistakes:
One mistake is to cling to the literal text and miss the inner principles.
The second mistake is to recognize the principles but not apply them to your own mind, so that you waste time and just make them into causes of entanglement.

A world with no people or other animals wouldn't be a world.

You might get a very nice garden, but there would be no one around to appreciate it, so there wouldn't be a point.

Aversion is as much a problem as attachment. Caught in the between we just end up chasing our own tail and dreaming up pointless hypotheticals.

Thag 1.20. Ajita - I do not fear death; nor do I long for life. I’ll lay down this body, aware and mindful.
