Hi Tilt,
Anywhere near Hell?

“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.

I can only imagine it must be something in the water!

The image of the opening post in this thread reminded me of the Picnic horse races near where I went to school in the Southern Highlands south-west of Sydney.

Which was an excuse for the country folk to get together, wear ridiculous clothes and get blind drunk. With the emphasis on getting blind drunk. Thirty years later it appears to have become a little more refined.

I actually don't mind bagpipes - so long as they're not too close nor off-key.
When I was at boarding school, some of the students would just disappear on Bong Bong Races Day and would turn up late in the day very much worse for wear and then end up on 'detention' after being sprung by teachers who attended the races.
The ridiculous dress-ups were more in the line of boys wearing dresses or caps with beer-cans attached - that sort of thing.

Thag 1.20. Ajita - I do not fear death; nor do I long for life. I’ll lay down this body, aware and mindful.

Greetings acinteyyo,
I am not sure whether you are familiar with the expression "When Hell freezes over!" A phrase indicating how unlikely an event will occur.
kind regards,

Ben

On a cold day in Hell, watch out for:

[special thanks to Scott for the photo]
"As I am, so are others;
as others are, so am I."
Having thus identified self and others,
harm no one nor have them harmed.

From an inconstruable beginning comes transmigration. A beginning point is not evident, though beings hindered by ignorance and fettered by craving are transmigrating & wandering on. Long have you thus experienced stress, enough to be RELEASED.

The path is not about becoming a better person — it is about putting an end to becoming
