Dear Dharma Friends,
Orgyen Dorje Den is pleased to share the following information about the Rinchen Terzod. We have recently spoken with Ven. Yangthang Tulku Rinpoche and he has indicated that he would like to start the Rinchen Terzod on the first day of the 10th Tibetan month.

Start Date & Suggested Donation
According to the Western calendar, the Rinchen Terzod will start:
Sunday, November 7, 2010 and the duration will be 3 months.
The requested donation is $2300 for the entire program, $30/ day, please contact us for family rates.

Frequently Asked Questions
All students, new and experienced, are welcome to attend these transmissions. The prerequisite is a good motivation and the aspiration to achieve enlightenment!
Of course attending the whole program is best, but we can attend on a daily basis according to our available time. We don't yet have the daily schedule but when we do we will let everyone know.

To the extent we can establish the sequence of empowerments prior to the start of the "wangchen" we will let you know. Some work study opportunities will be available on a case by case basis.

Food will not be available at ODD, but there are many excellent restaurants & coffee shops within 2-3 blocks of the temple. We plan to have an online registration process in place soon, so watch your inbox and check the website for additional information.
We will need a lot of help during the program, so please plan to participate as much as you can! We will send more details during the registration process.

Sponsorship
As a means of accumulating merit, some people are able to be sponsors and underwrite some or all of the considerable costs associated with hosting Dharma events of this type; some people have already expressed interest in contributing in this way. Any donation, large or small, will surely establish a connection for you with Ven. Yangthang Tulku Rinpoche and this profound mandala. If you have any

The site seemed rather vague on what the Rinchen Terzod actually is. Is it a set of practices? If so, which ones?

The Rinchen Terdzo is a collection of Terma.
It was compiled by Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Taye, and it considered one of his 5 great treasuries.

It contains many, many complete terma cycles that were apparently "thin on the ground" at the time of Kongtrul's compilation, as well as many that were, and are, quite popular. It is currently approx. 60-70 Tibetan volumes. It takes about 3 months, minimum, to bestow the entire thing, even if the Vajra Master is going at a good clip and giving no explanations.

If you can get your hands on a copy of Jamgon Kongtrul's Autobiography, translated by Richard Barron, there's an appendix that lists and outline of the whole thing.

It has cycles of teachings and practices from Mahayoga, Anuyoga, and Atiyoga, relating to the Three Roots (Lama, Yidam, Khandro), both together and seperately, as well as other protectors, subsidiary rituals, etc.

It does not contain the entire Nyingma corpus of Terma (and no Kama, as far as I know...) but it contains the vast bulk of the Nyingma transmissions. It's a huge, special, noteworthy, once-in-a-lifetime event.
