First jhana is needed, at least. The question is basically asking if sammasamadhi is required to fulfill the Noble Eightfold Path, which sort of answers itself. The link provided a few posts ago answers it very well.

From the link:
".............
When we do survey the Nikāyas with this issue in mind we find, perhaps with some astonishment, that they neither lay down a clear stipulation that jhāna is needed to attain stream-entry nor openly assert that jhāna is dispensable.

And the moment of the path is a sort of jhāna moment. So in any case at the moment of even stream-entry path, jhāna as part of sammāsamādhi is present.

The question should be asked about the importance of mundane jhāna prior to the path.
"Life is a struggle. Life will throw curveballs at you, it will humble you, it will attempt to break you down. And just when you think things are starting to look up, life will smack you back down with ruthless indifference..."

To study is to know the texts,
To practice is to know your defilements,
To attain the goal is to know and let go.
