Emergency rescue crews use ropes and ladders to pull an elk from a swimming pool at a house in Linkoping, 125 miles south of the Swedish capital Stockholm. The metal cover for the pool was believed to have given way when the animal stepped on it. It was not clear how long the elk had been stuck there

We can turn around.

I really hope that all these folks who are busy rescuing elks and holding candlelight vigils have the same enthusiasm for downer cows, caged chickens, and gassed pigs. I'll spare you the photos.
