In memory of Individual

Postby Ben » Wed Aug 24, 2011 9:26 pm

In memory of Individual who passed away last March.
He would have been 27 years old today.
“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.
- Sutta Nipata 3.725

May Individual have had a fortunate rebirth, with access to the Dhamma.

May he find the dhamma wherever he is and lead a happy and fulfiling life.

:anjali:
He turns his mind away from those phenomena, and having done so, inclines his mind to the property of deathlessness: 'This is peace, this is exquisite — the resolution of all fabrications; the relinquishment of all acquisitions; the ending of craving; dispassion; cessation; Unbinding.'

I was only lurking here when Individual was still with us but I remember him with warmth. I am wondering what are the appropriate chants we might perform privately to assist our dhamma friend so that he may come to the sacred Dhamma one more time and thereby gain relief from bondage...
Rain soddens what is covered up,
It does not sodden what is open.
Therefore uncover what is covered
That the rain will not sodden it.

I agree that 27 seems so young.

May Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha be with "him".
