Coupla Personal Dudjom Shrines

My impression is that the Dudjom Tersar Lineage values Dharma art a lot. This could be because my Dudjom lamas are master artists and craftsmen, but I'm pretty sure this emphasis comes from Dudjom Rinpoche.

So here are my two shrines currently: First, a Throma shrine for my living room, in a revamped TV case, for public Throma tsogs that will start in late January here. Second, a shrine for almost everything else I have, in my room. These tormas were all made through collaborative effects with a lot of people.. they are all much nicer than I could make myself.

There is always something imperfect, and I apologize to my teachers for any mistakes. For example, looking at the photos I notice a "gyen" ornament has fallen off one of the Throma protector tormas. Gotta break out that glue gun one more time!

I found something interesting in your description of one of these photos on your facebook page, Yudron. You had mentioned that Nyingmapas don't do 8 offerings but only 7, and so I looked at your picture and indeed, lo and behold, there is no bowl with representation for shabda. Now I'm familiar with using the vajra musical instruments to make the offering of music, but I'm not sure I've ever seen a Nyingma shrine without either a conch or tingsha for shabda among the bowl offerings. Indeed the Khenpo Rinpoches' shrines always have this feature, as do their instructions for assembling a shrine, and similarly Tashi Choling's shrine does as well, and I wanna say ODD's does too. Where did you hear that Nyingmapas don't do this?

P.S. please don't read the above as having a snarky or challenging tone; I tried but could not figure out how I could to word it so it conveyed simple curiosity and interest in learning about a variety of Nyingma perspective that is unknown to me.

I never heard that before either, about the seven offerings that is. That this also reflect on argam, pade, pupe.and so on?

Never heard that either. In Palyul, Longchen Nyingthig, Kusum Gongdu (Pegyal Lingpa), Dzinpa Rangdrol (Do Khyentse), I always remember eight, including shabda (tingsha or conch). Also Lama Dawa Chodak who's definitely Dudjom Tersar. Any source for your statement?

In Sakya 7 offerings are laid out, I think the Geluks do the same. The rationale is that the music offering is made with the instruments during the puja, rather than being an object on the shrine.
