Ruby-Eye Buddha/Shwedagon Pagoda

Dear Members,

Today my dear dhamma brother 'Dr.Han Tan' will go to visit his son in Yangon, Burma and he promises to pray to the most respected Ruby-Eye Buddha/The shwedagon Pagoda for me and all SD and JTN Group. So please let me show you all the pictures:

Women are not allowed in right? And men must get a special pass on restricted days right? Sigh :rolleye:

That's what I used to know, but this is year 2012...may be things in Burma about women change...when my friend/his wife/daughter come back I'll ask them..and report to you..ok?

WOW! Thank-you so much! While I have seen pictures of the pagoda all my life I have never before seen the Buddha image from the pagoda.

Seriously, at times I can't tell too much of a difference between Thai & Burmese Vihara design and architecture except for some noticeable small differences but the Buddha rupas are an instant giveaways...

Beautiful photos! I especially like the Maha Bodhi replica in the background at the Shwedagon complex.
