( D: question whether the 4th jhana includes as well rupa and arupa jhanas ,i.e.
Jhana 1-4 rupa + jhana 4 = 4 a,b,c,d arupa. 9 arupa but not jhana anymore.)
T: I think the 4th jhaana is still a ruupa jhaana, Dieter. What do you refer to
as " 4 a,b,c,d arupa."?
D: I can't remember to have read about the 5th, 6th,7th Jhana
so I assume entering the 4th Jhana includes all rupa Jhana and in its
perfection arupa Jhana , i.e. lik 4 a, b , c,..
>D: D.N.S. quotes A.N. , pls check the Pali , I am a bit far from my usual
sources ...
T: Okay. I have the Pali for you below. Beyond the first paragraph I do not see
any other useful information. Help is on the way from David Snyder since Yawares
will ask him to explain!
AN 9.36 PTS: A iv 422 Jhana Sutta: Mental Absorption
D: yes, good to ask him . As it seems , what appears as a quotation of the
sutta is an incorrect interpretation .
