Is there an easy to use and obtain system for typing Sanskrit romanization with all the diacritical marks? I found something for Sanskrit already available on windows, but don't know how to use it. It doesn't seem to do anything....

Have you tried the URW Palladio CSX+?

I have a simple online tool at http://kamleong.site90.net/indic/ where I type "prajJA-pAramitAyAm-hRdaya-sUtraM" (Harvard-Kyoto Convention) to get "prajñā-pāramitāyām-hṛdaya-sūtraṃ" (IAST with diacritic)

Some1, that seems pretty easy, but how do you make capital ś, for example?

I use a mac.

On the mac, if one uses the the extended keyboard and a unicode font like Gentium, etc., it is easy. A macron is shift+option+a; ś is s, then type shift+option+e, the ṅ is n, then type shift+option+w; for ṭ etc, type the retroflex of choice, as well as ṣ , type letter and then type shift+option+x. For ṛ, same as the last, for ṝ, , type r, then shift+option+x, then shift+option+a. More or less this covers everything. Then for n -- for ṅ, type n, then shift+option+w; for ñ, type n shift+option+n.

These rules apply to both upper and lower case.

On the Mac, I use the EasyUnicode keyboard layout (http://homepage.mac.com/somadevah/Software.html), which is very easy: ā is option-a, etc; ś is option-s; retroflexes are option-t for ṭ, etc.
On PC, I used THDL's tools (https://collab.itc.virginia.edu/access/wiki/site/c06fa8cf-c49c-4ebc-007f-482de5382105/diacritic%20fonts.html).

Does anyone know how can I convert text from a document (say in a PDF) in the Sans Serif Pali font to IAST Unicode?

For example, below is the first line in the file <http://www.dharanipitaka.net/2011/2008/sutra-stotra/Prajna-paramita-hrdaya.pdf> when pasted into plain text:

Praj#2-p2ramit2-h4daya-s9tram

Is there an easy way to convert those characters into the below Unicode characters, which is how they should read?

Prajñā-pāramitā-hṛdaya-sūtram

Thanks, some1. Since my last post I have created a macro in Microsoft Word that converts the text in that kind of encoding into Unicode.

I will take a closer look at your two links later. The Macrumors forum is under maintenance now. The other webpage is not the most IT-noob-friendly, so I cannot understand the procedures it talks about.
