Love

Dear Friends of the Buddha Dharma :buddha2:

As we all know people of good will are filled with compassion
and empathy for ending the suffering of their selves and others . . .

In some traditions this is called Love.

Like most Buddhists I love the three jewels,
practice and every sentient being in all realms.

Am I a hopeless romantic?

What a nice and beautiful thread, Lobster.

Thank you for sharing this :)

Recently I came across a wonderful quote by Thay, where he says, 'Love really is a practice.'

I will find it very shortly, one moment. . .

Here it is:

'Love is the capacity to take care, to protect, to nourish. If you are not capable of generating that kind of energy toward yourself—if you are not capable of taking care of yourself, of nourishing yourself, of protecting yourself—it is very difficult to take care of another person. In the Buddhist teaching, it’s clear that to love oneself is the foundation of the love of other people. Love is a practice. Love is truly a practice.'

I also found the source of the quote, an interview with Melvin McLeod.

As well as this:

“The teachings on love given by the Buddha are clear, scientific, and applicable… Love, compassion, joy, and equanimity are the very nature of an enlightened person. They are the four aspects of true love within ourselves and within everyone and everything.” ~Thich Nhat Hanh

life is not a bowl of cherries. the "love light" idea is not workable. for example, you will die and it will be very difficult, in most cases to stop breathing (see 4 dissolutions). little babies are blown up everyday by ethnocentric/egocentric warring people. ...and there are three types of suffering, that is only the first: birth, death sickness and old age. it gets worse from there.

...with that said, thank you for your love! i need it, your maximum affection at all times!!! i need you to be empty, so that there is room for me! refuge! inside your heart!!! )))))) meditate twice a day and be empty!!! please!!! of course, we all need this love, and buddhism has that all worked out. the practical/workable level of love is absolute love. so no matter how difficult someone on the forum is, even me :rolling: love them as best you can!!!
i dedicate this post to your happiness, the causes of your happiness, the absence of your suffering the causes of the absence of your suffering that we may not have too much attachment nor aversion. SAMAYAMANUPALAYA

Calm energy is what is needed in the world today my friend.

The only way to share peace is to be at peace, and then to do peace work.

Without stability, our work will not be stable, and so forth.

To see clearly, some peace is necessary, please share peaceful energy.

Thank you.

You can only be a hopeless romantic if you're expecting something in return.

:thanks:

Will do my best. First some cyber running up and down :woohoo:

Then virtual popcorn

So far so good.

Compassion - the Buddhist continuum from the kind to the kindness of tough love is a bit too indulgent for me :broke:

and now back to having a nice day ... everyone welcome ...
