Lamrim texts

Post by waimengwan »

Hey everyone,
I have only encountered Liberation in the Palm of your Hand and Lamrim Chenmo would anyone recommend other versions of Lamrim for study?

Did Dagpo Rinpoche write another version of the Lamrim?

Thanks

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, if you had only one Lamrim text to focus on which one will you pick and why?

IMO, the Lam Rim Chenmo. It seems the most comprehensive, most organized, and provides the greatest amount of depth of all points of the path.

I am looking for a shot to medium length lamrim that I can read daily besides the Liberation In the Palm of Your Hands by Kyabje Pabongka Rinpoche. That one is a monumental text for me. I am sorry I am not quite a scholar but something I can read and is easier to absorb.

You might check "Wishfulfilling Golden Sun." You can download it for free at Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive.
Or the Lam Rim Outlines at Buddhanet.net

Thanks for the suggestion, Shaun.

Does anyone know if "Wishfulfilling Golden Sun" was published as a book? I looked on Amazon, unsuccessfully, but wondered if it had maybe been given another name? I know a version was published by Karin Valham, but it does not have the tibetan text for prayers, as this one does.

(I ask because I find it hard to work with texts electronically, preferring a physical book.)

The Wish Fulfilling Golden Sun was printed in the early kopan years.
You can download it here for free and print it yourself or view it on your ipad.

Thanks; I have that downloaded already.

If it is available in print - I always find printing things myself goes horribly wrong - then I'd love to know.

Thank you for the interesting Lamrim text. I have downloaded it as well. It does have a rather comprehensive layout of the stages of the path. I took a look at the table of contents and I am no scholar but the text looks more like a Lojong text than a Lamrim one. Anyway, either way, this text is fantastically insightful. Thank you for recommending this text.

It is Lam Rim. It covers the key points of all three scopes minus Reliance on a Spiritual Teacher (as it was meant to be a introductory approach to lam rim and Guru Devotion is an oft misunderstood topic).
It was meant to be an accessible, effective and condensed approach to the Graduated Path.
