Hello from India !

Postby ananyaa » Wed Aug 29, 2012 2:42 pm

Hello everyone!

I am a new member to this forum and chanced upon this community while searching for academic courses that I could undertake to further my learning of Buddhism. I have noticed a few good programmes in USA, but information about the courses and topics is almost overwhelming. At the moment, I am very open minded about what part of Buddhism I would like to study and which country I could study in.
I have studied Sanskrit for about five years, understand the devanagari script, and am proficient in English (other than Hindi and a regional Indian language - Marathi). I have learnt Vipassana meditation under Sri S N Goenka (more at http://www.dhamma.org) and have also sat a few courses. I meditate from time to time, and now considering studying in this field too to get the theoretical side to my practice.
Any help to help me sift through the information to identify a suitable course is most welcome!

With a lot of goodwill to all of you,
Ananyaa

You are willing to move to another country to study Buddhism?

You're already very close to Himachal Pradesh, Dharamsala, Kathmandu, and Bhutan. :buddha1:

Without clairvoyance, we cannot work for other sentient beings - Khunu Lama
Suddenly you will know the different knowledge without study - Thog-'bebs
One may now accomplish the welfare and instruction of all sentient beings, spontaneously and without effort, by simply being, that is to say, by manifesting one's enlightened nature through spontaneously emanating an infinity of Nirmanakaya manifestations - Vajranatha

Ah, have you ever been in Goa?

Welcome.
