No offense taken, not a problem at all.
I enjoyed how she phrased what she said, and actually I thought maybe it was from a book somewhere.

That is excellent! Here is a good prayer to Guru Rinpoche to learn by heart:

If you are looking for that sort of thing, check out "Blazing Splendor", although its not comprehensive.

Mainly focuses on the times of Chokgyur Lingpa.

This book is not specific to the dzogchen tradition, it is of early siddhas of India of the mahamudra lineage leading to the Kagyu. For historical account of practitioners of dzogchen, you need to look up at the nyingma source, the book Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism should be what you are looking for.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet, but Nyoshul Khenpo's Marvelous Garland of Rare Gems is supposed to be an excellent collection of biographies of the masters of Dzogchen. Also, in terms of ancient Indian Dzogchen masters, Wellsprings of the Great Perfection is pretty cool, IMO. Not really biographical, per se, more like songs or soliloquies of realization that explain Dzogchen, plus some exerpts of important tantras of the 3 series.

P.S. Blazing Splendor is an amzing book. My absolute favorite autobiography of any master/partial biography of various Dzogchen masters. Fascinating book. I can read it over and over.

actually it's about masters of the Longchen Nyingthig tradition, which are dzogchen teachings from the Nyingma school and not mahamudra / Kagyu

from the sounds of it, I'll have to get a copy of Blazing Splendor

No Jyoti, you must be mistaking this for another book. This is about the Longchen Nyingthig (Nyingma) tradition.
To have mastered the Longchen Nyingthig, the Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse, one would have to be a Dzogchen Master. No Nyingma library is complete without this book. It's weak in the female category, but we have other books for that.

Hi Jyoti, you might mean this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Masters-Mahamudra ... 0887061605
Dzogchen masters I know say: 1)Buddhist religion essence is Dzogchen 2)Religions are positive by intent/fruit 3)Any method's OK unless: breaking Dzogchen vows, mixed as syncretic (Milanese Soup) 4)Don't join mandalas of opponents of Dalai Lama/Padmasambhava: False Deity inventors by encouraging victims 5)Don't debate Ati with others 6)Don't discuss Ati practices online 7) A master told his old disciple: no one's to discuss his teaching with some others on a former forum nor mention him. Publicity's OK, questions are asked from masters/set teachers in person/email/non-public forums~Best wishes

check out this one: A Marvelous Garland of Rare Gems - Nyoshul Khenpo Rinpoche

http://www.amazon.com/Marvelous-Garland ... +Rare+Gems

just have a look at the table of contents =)

edit: i see now someone put on sale used one for 390 USD on Amazon :/ but one can get it from Namse Bandzo Bookstore for 40 USD http://www.namsebangdzo.com/Marvelous_G ... /13739.htm or from Wisdom Books for 35 GBP http://www.wisdom-books.com/ProductDetail.asp?PID=12428, still bit expensive but it's 700 pages book.
Disdaining the lower and unable to grasp the higher,
talking of emptiness, such a person will neglect cause and effect,
mouthing on about the view while in a state of self-deception.
It would be better to concentrate on the gradual path.

It'.s out of print, if you look on Namsebangdzo and wisdom books carefully you'll see It's actually unavailable.

I have a PDF copy, It's an amazing book. Hopefully it will be reprinted.

I mentioned above, although I didn't reference the title, just gave a link.

It is due for a reprint, later this year. At least according to the last review on the amazon page.
