Hello, looking for books for new buddhist

Postby new2dharma » Wed Aug 29, 2012 5:28 pm

Hello, I am looking for good buddhist books in the mahayana/tibetan flavor. I am looking for books that kind of touch on everything. If you can suggest anything that'd be great! Thanks, Dan

http://www.amazon.com/The-Life-Buddha-According-Canon/dp/1928706126/ref=pd_sim_b_7

This is a bio of the Buddha told with some editorializing, but mostly excerpts compiled from the Pali canon. This gives an excellent introduction to the personality of the Buddha, his basic ideas, and the movement he initiated. Highly recommended to newbies and old-timers alike.
